Performance and Optimization

Perhaps one of the worst myths regarding therapy is that something needs to be wrong in order to benefit, or that it isn’t for you unless you’re experiencing extreme distress. I want to give you a different perspective. Many of the same tools and skills I offer individuals who are experiencing high levels of distress can be used for those who are functioning well in their lives, to optimize and allow them to perform at an even higher level.

Think about it, your body is the race car, and your mind is the driver. What if there were opportunities for improvement and growth for that driver that might increase their ability by 5%? How about 10%, or 25%? Would it be worth that driver seeking to make these improvements?

How much are you leaving on the table right now? How much more of you could be brought forth, unlocked, and used to benefit you, your friends, your family, and your community? There may be something small, something that you know you could improve, that you would improve, but you require some additional support and resourcing in order to make these adjustments. There is something that we all can improve upon, that is the foundation of Aretḗ. Whether you’re an athlete, working in the private sector, or trying to improve your relationships with others, it is likely that there may be some aspect of your performance you can improve, and that is what this line of therapy will focus on.


There are so many opportunities to improve performance in any aspect of life through therapy. By utilizing methods developed in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), and Existentialism we can assess those opportunities for improvement, develop plans, and reassess progress. Sports performance, career changes, or any kind of transition, you’ve come to the right place.

This requires work, but my guess is that if you clicked on this page you aren’t afraid of putting your head down and pushing forward. That is what brought you here, right? You’re already someone who performs reasonably well, but you feel as though you may have plateau’d, or that there is more to you than you originally thought.
