Lets work together to achieve your full potential.

Jeff Kubik

Hello! I’m the founder of Aretḗ Psychology. I was born and raised on a farm in rural Alberta. After graduating high school and leaving my small town I acquired some unique experiences such as attending music school in Los Angeles, managing a parasail business in the Okanagan, and working as a coach for SEALFIT. In 2015 I began my degree in Health and Physical Education majoring in Athletic Therapy, and became a Certified Athletic Therapist and Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach through the NSCA while also joining the Canadian Forces Primary Reserve. I then shifted my focus towards mental health and completed my Masters of Arts in Counselling Psychology through Yorkville University, graduating in 2022.

I'n my free time I enjoy spending time with my four dogs, Nala, Zeke, Theo, and NJ (Nala junior), being involved in physical fitness, building things, and exploring the outdoors. I never quite appreciated my upbringing until recently, and find myself more drawn to the days when we didn’t have the world at our fingertips through a smartphone. I believe that each of us have something to contribute to the world, something unique, something special, that only we can bring forward into existence. It is my belief that through proper support and encouragement, each of us may be able to manifest this in the most meaningful way possible to us.

What is Aretḗ?

The word aretḗ comes from ancient Greece which translates to virtue or excellence. The idea behind this word is that we should always be in pursuit of it, in attempting to become closer to a more self-actualized version of ourselves. The thing about aretḗ is that once you believed you have attained it, you have in fact lost it.

See, the goal isn’t the destination. The goal is the journey. Through the pursuit of this trait one can learn the skills to live a more meaningful and purposeful life. We all have different paths on this journey, we come to this path with our own unique strengths and weaknesses. By working together, we can identify what it is that truly brings meaning to your life, and begin to set our sights on the target that gives your life purpose.
